Welcome to the official website of the Unofficial PAX Community DVD!

We are a small group of dedicated individuals who understand the true greatness of the Penny Arcade Expo and wish to document as much of it as possible for the world to see. We are always looking for dedicated community volunteers to this end, especially now that there will no longer be an official DVD. You don't need a bunch of equipment, you don't need to be good at handling a camera, you basically just have to share our love for PAX!

So please browse through our forums and help us out in any way possible! It's very easy to submit photos and videos to us, and to view what others submitted. This is done by the community, for the community, so step on up and help others relive their greatest experiences! Also keep in mind that we are "non-profit." We do this for free, because we are just that dedicated and awesome.

xx PAX Prime 2011 is over. Time to look back! | 04 Sep 11

It's always an incredibly depressing realization on the Sunday evening of every PAX, when you walk out of the main theater, or the convention center, and realize that you won't be coming back in for PAX for another year. The anticipation prior to PAX lasts a long time and is at times difficult to bare. Then, it's finally here, and before you know it, it's already gone. There's just never enough time to see and experience everything. Well, hopefully we can help out in that area, because we filmed a good deal of events, including at least 10 different concert performances. Needless to say, we're a bit worn out.

So a few different members of our team have posted a number of videos already, and I'm going to share them all with you right here!

Videos by Coldbrew:
Some of you may have seen or heard about The Lando Society. Some of you, like myself and one of our other staff members, were in on the whole thing. I have for you all one of the more popular videos, showing Gabe & Tycho's induction into this society.
Gabe & Tycho are inducted into The Lando Society

Next up is another video that I put together, using footage from mine and MJPM's cameras from the Saturday night concerts. It's Jonathan Coulton performing Fancy Pants, followed immediately by Want You Gone, both performed on the zen drum. Also, it's in 1080p with audio from the soundboard cut in!

Videos by MJPM:
First is a video of Supercommuter performing 10th Generation. If you left after JoCo or just didn't see them, you should watch it and see what these guys are like. They surprised our whole team, myself included and I'm not even much of a nerdcore fan. It's mostly the way they sound though, it's really worth a watch.

Next is Jonathan Coulton performing the title track to his new album, Artificial Heart.

Here is more Jonathan Coulton, performing Je Suis Rick Springfield live for the first time.

Anybody that was at Paul & Storm's show when they brought a large group of people on stage may have remembered that two of them were a group known as The Doubleclicks. Well they did their own little 30 minute show in front of Band Land one day, and it was caught on film.

What we have here is The Protomen performing at Jillian's on Sunday, for the Post-PAX Party. We have here the whole set from one of 4 cameras. It's going to look awesome on the DVD's, but you can still see it from one point of view here!

NickelEdge was filming with us too, and he's uploaded many videos, too many for me to really want to link anyway. So just check out his channel here. It mostly consists of concert footage, with a bit from Jamspace and VGO outside of Band Land.

I hope you all enjoy. We're getting things figured out now to have all of this ready when our Prime 2010 and East 2011 DVD's are done, so we can get things rolling fast and bust this out. Speaking of which, we finally have all of our footage from Prime 2010 together and in working order, so we're hard at work to get it finished. We've been doing some work on East 2011 in the meantime so it shouldn't take very long to finish.

We'll keep you all posted. If you want to see more videos from us, watch the YouTube channels linked above in our names. See you guys in Boston in April for PAX East 2012, and maybe some of you at MAGFest X in January!

Hey guys! It's hard to believe that PAX is only a mere three days away. We have our filming schedule figured out for the weekend, and we wanted to let you all know where we're going to be and some of what you can expect on our DVD set when it's done. If any of you happen to be attending another panel or event that is not on our schedule, and you have the ability/willingness to capture it on film, please do so and show it to us after PAX. We love user-submitted content, so don't be afraid to send us your photos and footage! Remember this is a collaborative community project, anybody and everybody can be a part of it!

So anyway, here's a list of panels and events that we are planning on covering. Aside from what's listed, we do also plan on being around the Pre-PAX Dinner and, for the first time ever, the Tri-Wizard Drinking Tournament!

Friday:
Opening Keynote
Penny-Arcade Q&A
Rooster Teeth
Angry Video Game Nerd
Danimal Cannon's chiptune performance in Jamspace
Musical Guest Panel
Blamimations Alive!
Mega64
Friday Night concerts (3+ people filming in 1080p!)
Jonny Nero and The Protomen show at El Corazon

Saturday:
Make-A-Strip
OcReMix
Metroid Metal's Jamspace performance
After Hours with Kris and Scott
Saturday Night concerts (3+ people filming in 1080p!) (also Omegathon Round 4)

Sunday:
Media-Only Penny-Arcade Q&A
Omegathon Round 5
Something in the Queue Room. ;)
Pitch Your Game Idea
Inside Gearbox
Final Round of the Omegathon
Post-PAX Party coverage, including performances from Jonny Nero and The Protomen!

We have a couple other things on the schedule that we will try to get on film, but there's really never any guarantee for anything. There's also some things we can't talk about, but don't be surprised if you see us all over the place with cameras constantly rolling. Anyway we're open to comments and suggestions, so if you got something then speak up!

See you guys this weekend!

A new registration verification system has been implemented, as has a Contact button in the navigation bar at the top of the site! Both now rely on reCaptcha to keep out the spammers. If you have trouble using either of these systems, send a tweet to @paxcommunitydvd to let us know, and we'll look into it ASAP!

Hey everybody, just wanted to say a few things. First of all, sorry for the delay on our Prime 2010 DVD set. We have a good batch of footage on DV tapes, and our only easily-available method of capturing the footage from them went tits up. We're working on a solution and as soon as we can get it captured we'll be much closer to being finished. Needless to say, we're done with SD-DV cams. And we got a good start on that as we didn't use any for PAX East earlier this year, so that should be done in record time.

To hold you guys over, I have uploaded the entire Musical Guests panel from Prime 2010 online for your viewing pleasure. If you haven't attended this panel before, you owe it to yourself to watch this and attend them in the future, it's one of the most entertaining panels PAX can offer in my opinion.

PAX Prime 2010 - Musical Guests Panel

As for the upcoming PAX Prime, we have a lot of new things planned, segments and such that will let us live up to our name a bit more, and really show people the true PAX experience. But we'll go over that later when we're ready. One thing I can mention now (if you didn't see our post on twitter/facebook) we will be filming the concerts in 1080p from three cameras. This doesn't mean you will need a Blu-ray player or anything in order to see the concerts, we'll have a 480p version as well. But this does mean we can have a separate Blu-ray release just for the concerts. Personally, I can't wait!

So again I want to thank everybody out there for their support and patience. We hope you look forward to what's coming and hopefully see you all at PAX in two months!

Yeah, that's right. Two months. Crazy, huh? But I wish it was sooner!

Edit:
Prime 2011 is now completely sold out.

Mr. Fehlauer over at Penny Arcade has just dropped the bombshell that PAX badges are set to sell out in record time. Everyone, especially those who would like to film or take photos with the Community DVD in Seattle this year, are encouraged to register right now. Though the above timeline is based on current sales, the actual supply of PAX badges rarely last as long as their projections, especially after they advertise their dwindling supply. For those of you thinking about requesting media badges, go ahead and register for an attendee badge anyway. If you get your media badge, you will have absolutely no problem selling your regular badge before PAX in the PAX forum's badge selling thread.
